RESOLUTION Call 2023

On June 12, after evaluating a total of 612 proposals submitted to the 5th edition (2023-2024) of the Call for Proposals The Right to be a Girl, the evaluation committee of The Cooperating World decided to select and approve a total of 61 projects.

Goals

To contribute to the global effort to end girl child marriage.

To directly protect, help and empower girls against forced marriage and female genital mutilation, facilitating their physical, emotional and educational development for the full enjoyment of their childhood and youth in freedom.

Support local civil society entities working to end Forced Marriage and Female Genital Mutilation in their communities.

Call Basic Information

1. Funding

The funding stream for this 2023 call amounts to 800.000 €.

Interested organizations will be able to apply for grants for projects of up to 20.000 €.

Only one project per entity is accepted within this call.

2. Prospective Grantee Entities Profile

Local, community based organizations proving a strong integrated approach in their community and the capacity and potential to sustain their programs in the long term will be prioritized for this open call.

The applicant organizations must be properly registered at the corresponding official registry in their country, and have at least one physical address, a phone number and email account.

The overall organizational annual budget must be equal or higher than the amount requested in the project proposal submitted for this grant.

3. Projects and geographic location priorities

The fund stream for this call will prioritize projects and initiatives from local organizations working under the following approaches and located in the following geographic areas:

Support for enrolling and retaining girls at school.

Family conditioned support for their daughter´s education.

Shelter homes for vulnerable girls.

Safe spaces and rescue centers.

Assistance and legal defense for girls under risk or vulnerable situations.

Community awareness and mobilization projects

Sexual and gender based violence prevention.

Awareness projects working with community or religious leaders, primarily focused on involvement of men and young boys.

Projects advocating for policies and law enforcement against Girl Child Marriage and/or Female Genital Mutilation.

Projects Selection Process

1. First Phase: basic data and concept note

Applicant organizations must describe their institutional basic profile and a brief description of the proposal of work through the enable on-line form here:

2. Second Phase: complete project formulation

The resolution of the first phase will be communicated to all participants by email on April 6, 2023*.

Those entities that are pre-selected will also receive the forms in which they can describe their proposal, and the details of the administrative documentation that they must provide.

* Important: due to the large number of applications received, we are extending the deadline for the resolution of the 1st Phase of the call.

3. Resolution and notification

The final resolution of the approved projects will be published on May 31, 2023*
